Finally, Agios Dimitrios is one of the most imposing buildings in the city, built in the 5th century, with catacombs in which the saint of Thessaloniki himself testified. But the city has many more Byzantine monuments that put it in a prominent position in the UNESCO list: The church of Agia Sophia, Panagia Achiropoititos, Panagia Chalkeon and the Monasteries of Vlatada and Agia Theodora stand out for their special architecture.
